In December 1985, Whitley Strieber woke up in the middle of the night surrounded by creatures he did not recognize. One of his neighbors saw the craft he was taken in and heard him screaming inside it. What began as what he could only describe as a shocking initiation has become, over four decades, the most transformative and challenging relationship of his life.
Not an Encounter Story. A Relationship Story.
Whitley is precise about this distinction. He does not call them aliens or extraterrestrials. He calls them visitors. And what he has spent 40 years building with them is not a catalogue of phenomena but a relationship, imperfect, argumentative, sometimes frightening, and ultimately more valuable than anything else in his life.
The being he knows best is a tall female visitor he describes with genuine warmth as being like a sister, a mother and a wife all wrapped into one. She attended his cabin in upstate New York, came to meet a writer he is collaborating with on a film, and continues to visit him physically, including a memorable incident involving a needle in his leg that he had been sleeping through for years until he accidentally startled her awake.
Physical and Non-Physical as They Choose
Whitley is emphatic on a point that confuses many people. This is not a purely spiritual experience. His removal from his home was physical. His neighbor saw the craft. He was physically injured. The mark where the needle enters his leg is still there and he has photographs.
At the same time, these beings can appear and disappear before your eyes at will. They are physical and non-physical as they choose to be, or they are doing something to our perception to create that effect. They are small and physically fragile compared to us, extremely wary of startling us because they find us dangerously unpredictable at close range.
They are also primarily telepathic and have no vocal cords or syrinx. They cannot speak. But Whitley finds telepathy with them easy and joyful when they are present.
What They Actually Are
The short three-foot-tall visitors, Whitley explains, are not independent beings. They are projections of the taller five-foot ones, connected telemetrically in a way analogous to AI drones connected to a central intelligence. The tall ones have separate personalities but share a collective mind. They are not robotic. They have a rich emotional life. But they are also almost certainly partly artificial, having interfered with their own biological evolution over time.
What strikes Whitley most is the immensity of what they encounter in us. Billions of completely separate individual minds. He believes this can overwhelm them, and that some of the darker predictions and power-asserting behavior that comes through certain contact experiences is actually the visitors trying to seem more powerful than they feel in the face of our sheer mental complexity.
What They Know About the Soul
Whitley does not ask them questions about the universe. He considers that a waste of time and an imposition on a relationship he is still working to build. But there is one thing he has come to know clearly through contact: they are deeply aware of the soul.
They are conversant with our dead. They understand that dying with a heavy soul is not good. And they align, in their own way, with something every major religious tradition on Earth has also pointed toward: the lightness of soul, which the ancient Egyptians described as the heart being lighter than a feather, which Christianity calls forgiveness, which Buddhism and Hinduism approach through non-attachment.
On What Happened and Forgiveness
Whitley does not shy away from the most difficult aspect of his story. The contact involved the removal of sexual material. He has met a young man who appeared to be a hybrid, struggling and telepathically gifted, who may be an outcome of this process. He does not know if what was done was right or wrong. He uses the analogy of taking a dog to the vet: the dog experiences it as an assault, but whether it was wrong depends entirely on why it was done, and that he does not yet know.
What he does know is that forgiveness matters more to the soul of the one doing the forgiving than to the one being forgiven. That is his journey right now. Not because what happened was acceptable but because the alternative is a weighted soul, and a weighted soul cannot go where he wants to go.
What Real Disclosure Actually Requires
Whitley is specific and unambiguous about this. Releasing fuzzy videos and making cryptic comments is not disclosure. Real disclosure requires two things: publishing the complete biological reports on the bodies that are held at Fort Detrick in Maryland, with full imagery, and placing at least one of the semi-intact discs in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington for the public to see, with others in institutional settings around the world.
Until that happens, he says, we have not had disclosure.
What Is Coming Between Now and 2035
The visitors are not good at predicting the future and Whitley has learned not to trust their predictions. But he does believe that the environmental upheaval already visible around us, the droughts, the fires, the increased volcanic and seismic activity, is going to intensify significantly over the next several years. And it is during this period of upheaval that the visitors plan to emerge more fully into our lives.
The next decade, he says, is going to be quite a shock to everybody.
How to Build a Relationship
Whitley’s advice for anyone who wants contact is counterintuitive. Stop being a tourist. They will not come because you want to see something interesting. What might eventually bring them is genuine humility, sustained patience and having something real to offer and something real to need. And even then, he says, they are far more likely to simply show up unbidden to whoever they want to come to. That is, and always has been, how it works.

They are here. They are trying to make contact with us. They are having trouble, and we can help solve that problem. As disclosure progresses, they have the hope of engaging with us. It's about the evolution of this relationship. We're going to go through a thing on this planet in the next few years, which is going to be quite a shock to everybody.
Jannecke Øinæs 0:24
For those who really want to, you know, expand their consciousness, would you be open to share what actually happened that night?
Whitley Strieber 0:29
My removal from my home was a physical thing. One of my neighbours even saw the craft I was in and heard me screaming inside it. These beings can appear and disappear before your eyes at will. They are physical and non-physical as they wish to be. They're terribly intelligent. They are also primarily telepathic. I do know that they are conversant with our own dead. That they are very, very aware of the soul. They find us extraordinary because there is such an immense richness of mind here. I'm not sure that governments even have the really important information. The really important information is in the hands of people who are having relationship with the visitors, and there's many, many people putting out fuzzy videos and making cryptic comments is not distortion. For real disclosure, you need to do two things.
Jannecke Øinæs 1:27
And if there are people out there who also want to foster such a relationship, how can they do so? Hey, I know it can get annoying when YouTubers ask you to subscribe, but if you do subscribe, you are supporting the channel and you are getting notifications of new videos, and it only takes a couple of seconds. Thank you so much, Whitley Strieber. Welcome to the Wisdom From North show.
Whitley Strieber 1:58
Well, I'm glad to be here. Thank you. Thank you for having me.
Jannecke Øinæs 2:02
You know I'm thrilled to have you here because you are the legendary author of the book Communion that became a bestseller. You sold 2 million copies, and it later on became a movie. You're also the author of more than 40 books, and you are one of the most recognised and respected voices within the field of alien contact and consciousness research, and you also had your own extraordinary experience back in 1985 with what you don't call aliens or extraterrestrials, but actually visitors. And my first question to you is: What have actually 40 years of contact with these visitors taught you about the nature of reality?
Whitley Strieber 2:52
Well, I think the contact experience has taught me about the nature of the relationship more than the nature of reality, in that I started out with a rather shocking experience that at first I viewed as an assault, but it was really initiatory in nature in the sense that it overturned my understanding of what the real world is, and. since that start, I have been trying for many years to build a relationship with them, and they have been trying too. It's been a very mutual effort, and it's had its ups and downs, in that I couldn't let go of the idea that I was abducted, and this happened in 1985. And late 1985, I found myself with a bunch of creatures that I didn't recognise the nature of at all, and I viewed what happened as an assault. If I had been more calm and collected, it probably would have been different. But I wasn't. I was too surprised, and so I I panicked, and that caused a real fluffle among them because they didn't apparently didn't expect that to happen, and from that beginning, gradually the relationship has changed and grown and slowly repaired itself, and now I view that as one of the more valuable, maybe the most valuable experience of my life. As difficult as it was, it still completely revised my understanding of what reality is, and it gave me an opportunity. To see the world on a much larger scale than I had before, much larger. I I could never be the person I am now if that hadn't happened.
Jannecke Øinæs 5:14
Did you have any extraordinary experiences before 1985?
Whitley Strieber 5:20
Yes, I did. I've had a lot of them in my life, and I had encounters with these beings when I was a child. But they were never spoken of. They were, I think, that they were facilitated by my father, who had some kind of a connection to the Air Force or some kind of intelligence organisation, and he facilitated these meetings as when I was a little boy. But they were never to be spoken of, and when a child has things happen that don't fit their world and they're not spoken about, they disappear from memory. They're still somewhere in my mind, I'm sure, but I can't draw them up for the most part very clearly. A few I can't. In any case, they left my life in when I was about 12, And then reappeared suddenly at the age of 40, and I didn't remember them at all. They didn't expect that. They they thought I would remember them. It didn't occur to them that I would.
Jannecke Øinæs 6:36
It seems like you're knowing them very well when you're saying that they thought that you would remember them, so I'll get back to that. But for those who are actually new to your story, and I was myself, and I was quite shocked actually to hear what you have been going through, because I've had quite a few on the show who've had encounters or contact, but most of them have been so pleasant. So hearing about yours, I got a bit shocked. But for those who really want to, you know, expand their consciousness, learn more about what's out there, and that's what this show is really about. Would you be open to share what actually happened that night, or whatever you are comfortable with sharing?
Whitley Strieber 7:18
Well, yeah, but I the trouble with sharing that is, it makes it seem like the whole experience is awful. And I want to preface this with saying that while I was very, very confused and upset, this led to a whole new life. So it's not I'm not talking about something that was bad so much as something that was very challenging, and what happened was this: I, or I, did any, made any effort to, to, to discover more detail about what had happened. I remembered waking up in the middle of the night in a room surrounded what appeared to me to be giant insects, and of course I thought I was going insane. And I went to the doctor, and when he examined me physically, he found I had been injured as well, and so I remembered the moments in which I had been injured, and this caused me to take another tack and to try to figure out what had happened. And I thought it was probably a criminal assault. It didn't occur to me even then that it had anything to do with aliens because I just didn't think about that. And then eventually, I ended up with a psychiatrist, Dr. Donald Twine, who was a the world's or the certainly the United States leading forensic psychiatrist at that time. By forensic psychiatrist, I mean he was a forensic hypnotist. Rather, he was a prominent psychiatrist, the head of the New York State Department of Psychiatry, and also a forensic hypnotist of the first order. When I first went under hypnosis with him, he had already solved 72 criminal cases using memories derived from hypnotic regression, meaning that he is was very competent. He knew what he was doing because you don't solve a criminal case by any with anything except evidence, hard evidence, and that was what he was getting in the memories of people who had experienced traumatic events such as being not. My automobile and things like that. So I was confident, and neither of us expected me to be seeing aliens. We thought that those were masks. That I remembered these big eyes, and we thought masks, not aliens, because we neither one of us believed that, and when the experience came up in the hypnosis session, it was extraordinary because I remembered very vividly every detail of it, and not only that, I spontaneously went back to the age of 12 when I had had another experience, the last experience I had as a child, when my father had said to me we were together when it happened, and I said to him, "Daddy, it's all right, and he said, "No, buddy, it's not all right. And when he said that, fear went through me, and that was when they left my life as a child, and I became very depressed at that point as a child. So this was what happened first, and I went through a long period of recovery. But what happened next was in March of 1986. my wife and I realised they were real. They were real. They were actually real beings, and they weren't. It wasn't. It wasn't. I wasn't crazy, and they weren't criminals wearing masks. These were beings, people, and so I started going out into the woods at night at my cabin in upstate New York, in order to try to say to them, "I want to build a relationship. And five days after I first went out and succeeded in going into the deep woods where I had remembered being taken from, they came back. They came to the house, but it scared my cats so badly. It scared me too, and I didn't go outside, and they left again. And that was the beginning of a long period of a very fraught relationship that still goes on to this day, and it's still not all that comfortable. We struggle together, but both sides want it to work. That's very clear. Recently, there's been they've been very angry about the fact that they feel like I'm not being able to get past the trauma of the abduction, and it's time. It's been all these years, and it's time to see the relationship differently. And they're quite right about that.
It is time to see the relationship differently, because as disclosure progresses, they have the hope of engaging with us, And they can't do it if the person who is most publicly known about this is going to be saying that it's something awful. And I'm not saying that. I mean, I think that's that's not correct. What has happened to me, as I said earlier, has opened me up to the world as nothing else ever could. You talked about the thing that's going to happen in San Diego. My talk in San Diego is going to be called "From Terror to Transformation, and it's about the evolution of this relationship, because it's a wonderful, extraordinary relationship-the most, the most enlightening and challenging thing that has ever happened to me-and I'm very grateful they are here in my life. Frankly,
Jannecke Øinæs 14:00
I can't wait to hear that talk, and you're very right. We're going to meet in San Diego. I'm going to have a talk. You're going to have a talk, and I'm going to have a panel where you're going to be one of my guests. And of course, I'll drop a link below for anyone who wants to join us in September 2026. Back to the experience. I watch many movies about this, and Steven Spielberg have made quite a few movies about this. And what I'm curious about is when people are abducted, are they physically taken from their houses, or are you in another state of consciousness? Have you any thoughts about that?
Whitley Strieber 14:37
Yeah, yeah, it's physical. You're in another state of consciousness, all right. You may be sure of that, but my removal from my home was a physical thing. One of my neighbours even saw the craft I was in and heard me screaming inside it. So it was completely physical. This isn't a spiritual experience. Only that's certainly a big part of it, but it is also very much physical. Their presence in my life is very physical. They they they won't be that way. You have to be prepared, but it isn't spiritually in order to take full advantage of it, but that takes a long time. But very often, it begins as a physical experience with people, and then turns into something else. In my life, it has remained a physical experience. I don't see them often, but I, I do encounter them physically from time to time. Yes.
Jannecke Øinæs 15:41
So, are they physical and non-physical, or are they just as physical as we are? Because some species, they are in other dimensions. For instance, we hear often.
Whitley Strieber 15:51
Well, well, these beings can appear and disappear before your eyes at will. Therefore, they are physical and non-physical as they wish to be, or they are doing something to your head to make them make it seem to you that they've disappeared. I don't know what it is, or it could even be some some kind of technology. But in the end, they are physical, and they can be hurt, and they can be frightened because we're quite big, and compared to them, they're very small and fragile compared to us. And they are extremely wary of us, because I mean, would you go into a cage with a tiger that was absolutely terrified of you. I think not. And so when they show up, it's very brief. They don't want me to get overexcited. They come in. There's a place on my leg that they will attend to from time to time with a little very thin needle that they put in there. I don't know why they do it, but I trust them implicitly, and so I I don't resist it. However, one time a couple of years ago, they they will come in the night, and I usually am not awake for this. I don't wake up, and I see the place where the needle has gone in in the morning, in the little spot. I at the conference I'll be glad to show people this spot, and I have pictures of what it's like when the needle right after the needle has gone in, and so forth. So I've got that all pretty clear. In any case, the needle. I woke up in the night, and I was not fully conscious. I was sort of half awake, and I could feel something between my legs in the bed. And I thought, is that the cat? And I thought, wait a minute, I don't have a cat. I don't have a cat. I don't have a dog, so what's between my legs? And I jumped up, and it was the little being trying to put the kneeling, and he jumped up too, and he left claw marks on both of my legs and shot off through the into the bathroom where there's a skylight and out through the skylight, and I thought, darn, I've missed the attention, medical attention I need because it's it's very valuable to me. And but they came back. They come back and do that every about every six months. But I'm glad that you know because startle reflex is very natural. I didn't do it on purpose, and I wasn't scared of him. I just didn't expect to wake up with someone between my legs in the bed. You know, I mean, who would? And I obviously he didn't expect me to wake up either. And if that that's happened since, by the way, and I've just been very still and haven't done anything because when I wake up and there's something else in the bed, I don't move because I know they're there and I and I've had really a few instances which has been which have been really delightful and it's a wonderful relationship. It's just very complicated, and it can get can go off the rails quite easily because they have they have a ferocious temper, at least in my life. But my wife said to me, "You know, Whitley, you really are the most annoying person I've ever known. So if they get mad at you too. I'm not surprised in the least. So we go on down the road together as best we can,
Jannecke Øinæs 19:49
and we are speaking about a certain type of being or visitors called usually the greys or the zetas, and. From what I understand, it's these you know short grey with big black eyes. Have you watched the Disclosure Day? Did you see the beings there? Are they similar to that movie?
Whitley Strieber 20:13
The the being at the end in the wheelchair. No, they don't need wheelchairs, and I wouldn't worry about that for a second. The one I know the best is quite old. I don't how old I don't know, but old. But she sure as hell doesn't need a wheelchair at all. So I and I thought that my experience of them is that they're terribly intelligent. They do think that we are too, and that we don't respect our own minds nearly as much as we should. So they're quite challenging. They think of themselves as teachers, and they're we're going to go through a thing on this planet in the next few years, which is going to be quite a shock to everybody.
Jannecke Øinæs 21:07
Oh, in what way?
Whitley Strieber 21:10
Quite a shock in that the planetary environment is changing dramatically. You notice all the different droughts and heat and terrible storms in one place and fires in another, et cetera, and so forth, and all of the upsurge and major earthquakes. And there will follow this. There will be a lot of volcanic activity as well over the past next few years, and this is going to change the way we experience life and the way we experience our planet, and it's during this period of upheaval and change that they are going to emerge into our lives. So it's going to be quite a few years. The next between now and 2035 or so, quite quite a lot is going to happen.
Jannecke Øinæs 21:59
Have they told you this? And they can see the future.
Whitley Strieber 22:04
No, they can't see the future very well. They they they like you to believe they can see the future better than they can. But I've gotten numerous predictions from them that I don't talk about because they're not they're never right. And so I thought to myself, they they tend to be very dark. I mean, in other words, they they always think the worst is going to happen, and I guess that's from their own life experience. And but and they they think think of us correctly as being very heedless about our planet and our and we're not good. We don't take good care of it, and they're quite right about that. But at the same time, it's a very rich planet, and it is it has a an amazing ability to restore itself. It has been almost stripped of life many times, and we're here. So, and you know, we will participate also in its efforts to rebalance itself over the next few years because we'll become engaged when we know we have to be engaged. We will, so it's not going to be the end of the world. It's just going to be a very, very interesting time in in the in the way that of the Chinese curse. I'm sorry to say.
Jannecke Øinæs 23:33
Yeah, we are in interesting times for sure. I'm very interested in learning more about who they are and where they come from. I've had many channelers on the show channel Pleiadians, Arcturians, Andromedans, even Lyrans. Who are the Greys compared to those other well-known beings that we often hear of and that are channelled?
Whitley Strieber 23:59
Well, I'm I'm not in that space. I don't really. I'm not really interested in where they came from. Come from. I'm interested in what happens in my living room, not in where they, whether or not they came from, some other planet or out of the ground or where. I mean, I have no idea. I do know that they are conversant with our own dead, that that they are very very aware of the soul, and that if you you die with a heavy weighted soul, it's not good. You you need to die with a light soul, and to understand that clearly, you have to go way back to ancient Egypt, and in ancient Egypt they had the understanding that the soul needed to be lighter than a feather in order to ascend, and they're right. They were quite right about that, and they have a rule of life. The 42 laws of Maat, which is the 10 Commandments, are a distillation of the 42 laws of Mahat, and then the Christian idea of forgiveness is also a lightening of the soul. That we know how to lighten the soul in Buddhism, in Hinduism, in Shintong, in all of our religious traditions, including the the indigenous ones, they all offer a path to a lightness of soul, and this is what we need to go on. As far as from different planets, I don't even care. I'm not even interested. I have a relationship with the Greys, and it's a lot of fun. It's all often very argumentative, and the lady, old Lady Grey, is like a sister, a mother, and a wife all wrapped into one, and I love her very much. She came last summer. We're I'm working on a movie, and she came wanted to meet one of the writers, and so she's first night she sends her guardians. She's got these three short figures were extensions of her. They're like drones, but they're part of her. They're not. She's not like us. She's different from us. She has a different brain and everything. She's a different being. So anyway, they came the first night and walked around on the lady's roof. And she called me and she said, "I heard this strange shuffling on my roof last night, and I thought, "Oh boy, she's they're here, they're there. I said, "In the movie, and so I I went over and I said to her, "I think they're going to show up, and you might as well expect that to happen. So the next night, she she has a beautiful view of Los Angeles from her house, and her bedroom sits on a little on a step up from the living living room, and there's a curtain that you can open so you can see the whole view from the bedroom as well as from the living room. The house is designed that way, and she closes the curtain at night because she, when she goes to sleep, because she wants it to be dark, not not to be waked up by the dawn, which will come blasting in at some point. And she wakes up because she hears the shuffling on the roof again, and she sees pee in the between in the curtain, the face of the lady from the cover of communion, and she thinks, "Oh my God! And the next thing she knows, she's terrified, and she thinks, "Oh, if only dawn would come. Whereupon this huge light fills the entire house, and she's not scared anymore. But then, some something unseen grabs her wrist and drags her up through the roof, through the ceiling, and through the roof. Two hours later, she ends up lying in a heap on the floor of the bedroom, naked with on on a pile of pyjamas, and she calls me and says, "Whitley, the your people came, and they took off all my clothes, and I was with them for two hours, and I have no idea what happened. I said, "Well, don't worry about it.
They're interested in the movie, and now they know all about it, and they probably even know how whether or not we're going to succeed in making it. So that's that's her. That's her living in my life. She's very much in my life, and I hope she likes the movie idea because if she doesn't, no matter what we do, it'll always fall apart. It won't be made. But if she does like it, it's going to be made. We'll see. I can't second guess her. I don't know how.
Jannecke Øinæs 29:18
Now, what I'm really curious about is their intention or agenda? Because I have a feeling that we heard a lot about abductions many years ago, and that it has quieted down a bit. It seems like it was going on a lot before, and now it's not going on. So, what could you say about what their intention was with all these abductions?
Whitley Strieber 29:44
Well, I don't want to second guess them. The abductions involve the removal of sexual material, and I am not sure that. I think we we need. To find a way to reconcile that, you know, we've had many situations in the human world where bad things have been done, and there, like in South Africa, there was a massive effort to reconcile the. The architects of apartheid with the new government after the white supremacist government fell, and we have to have a reconciliation over that, because that happened, and it is a real thing. But the important thing is to remember the value of forgiveness, because forgiveness is important, obviously, to the person being forgiven, but it's much more important to the soul of the person who is doing the forgiving. In in Matthew, Peter, the apostle Peter says to Jesus, "And should I forgive seven times over? And Jesus replies, "You should forgive 70 times, 77 times. In other words, and when I was a boy, a priest who used to come to our house and their country house with us taught me that forgiveness is not a thing that we do; it's something that we can become. It is can become part of the way we are, and this is my journey right now, because this was done. Was it right? Was it wrong? I don't know. In other words, in the sense that you take a little dog to the vet, and the dog has an awful time. But what the dog doesn't know is his life is being saved, and then he comes home, and he hates the vet because of what was done. But was that what the vet did right or wrong? Until we know why this was done, we can't make a decision, and we have to leave it where it lies, and move on down the road with that.
Jannecke Øinæs 32:30
And you feel like you don't know why they did what they did.
Whitley Strieber 32:36
I'm not sure. I did meet a a boy who is now he's be a man now he'd be in his 40s now, if I'm right about his age when I met him, who was very distressed.
Jannecke Øinæs 32:51
A human boy,
Whitley Strieber 32:53
yeah, yeah, human boy. He was very telepathic, and he appeared to be quite autistic. And I'm not sure he was unvoiced, and he was obviously struggling. And if that was the outcome of the removal of sexual material from human beings, then that's something we're going to have to face, and so are they. Everyone's going to have to face that, and the people that came out of this that are struggling need to be embraced by our social services in such a way that they don't have to live rough, and that they are supported as best we can by our own by our species. If this really is happened more than a few times, if there are a lot of them around, and there may be, I don't know.
Jannecke Øinæs 33:54
And from what I understand, you still have contact with them. Could you share how that contact looks like, and is it so that you can ask them all kinds of questions about the universe?
Whitley Strieber 34:07
I don't ask them questions. I don't want to waste my time with asking questions because I'm-I have no reason to assume they even know the answers, the proper answers, or to assume that the answers they give me will be a kind of absolute truth. I don't look upon them as gurus. I look upon them as people struggling to make a relationship work, and that's how I see them. I am not going to waste their time with idle curiosity. Either I have no interest in doing that whatsoever. If we, I want to find out about the universe, I can do it by talking to our own astronomers and reading up reading up on what we know. I don't have to get them to tell me things that to waste their time. Doing that, they're trying to make a relationship with us work. That's what I'm focused on. How do I do my part of that well so the relationship does work and it's fruitful for both sides?
Jannecke Øinæs 35:14
Okay, so they really want a relationship with us humans, and they're trying that now, especially
Whitley Strieber 35:21
yeah, they have been trying for a long time. How long I don't know, because it could be that we conflated them into gods and demons and angels and all kinds of things over our whole history. I don't know how long they've been here. My sense of the greys is they haven't been here that long. I think that others have come and gone over the years, but it's not all one continuous thing. And I think they come here. They we see them through the lens of whatever belief system we have they they we have at any given time, and then they they leave, and after a while they teach what they can and leave. I think that an example of this is Ezekiel Swiel. I think that was an alien craft, or even a time machine. I mean, it could be something to do with time, for all I know. And he obviously didn't understand a thing about what he was seeing, and they left. And I think that after the great catastrophe that unfolded here on this planet in about 12,000 years ago, when the ice age ended, they came and they taught us as best the the survivors as best they could, because the existing civilization had been drowned under 450 feet of water worldwide, and they came and they taught the people who were left alive the basics of civilization and possibly also farming, and kept us going. And they're here now again. Is it all the same people? I don't think so. I think the Greys are too confused about us, and they've had too much trouble dealing with me for them to have a lot of experience with human beings,
Jannecke Øinæs 37:26
interesting.
Whitley Strieber 37:27
If they had a lot of experience with human beings, for example, they would have known how the brain works well enough to know that I would have forgotten what happened during my childhood, and they did not know that. That's why they were surprised in December of 1986, 85.
Jannecke Øinæs 37:42
Yeah, and also maybe understood that we would be terrified that we have so many emotions. What I've heard is that they don't have such a rich emotional life. More an intimate.
Whitley Strieber 37:54
Oh no, that's not true. No, the the little short ones that are about three feet tall are not complete. They're not complete unless they're with one of the taller ones, and they are part of that taller one. They are like a projection of that taller one. If if you can imagine, they're like we would have we had AI robots that were telemetrically connected to to us. That's what they are like, but the tall ones, the five feet tall ones, have a rich emotional life. They are by no means robotic, but they may be partly what we would call AI and partly organic. I'm not sure. They may have enhanced themselves with organic brain implants, for example, over the years. So, where they stand on the biological development versus induced artificial development, I I don't know, but it's not completely organic. It's there's got to be some some kind of they've they've they've interfered with their own of evolution in many ways. I'm sure they are also primarily telepathic. They cannot speak, and some of them that do speak are not the greys I know. The greys I know cannot speak. They they don't have language, they don't have a syrinx, and they don't have vocal cords, so they can't speak. But they are fluently telepathic, and it's very easy to have telepathy with them. And I have telepathy anyway a bit, but it's always wonderful when they're around because it's so much fun and so easy. They do not have they have separate personalities, the tall five foot tall ones, but they have a collective mind, and so they're not like us in this respect. We. Have very isolated minds, and I see them as being essentially one individual with many different personalities. We are different in that we each of us is a separate individual. Each of us is an island, and they are more of an archipelago, so they, I think, find us extraordinary because there is such an immense richness of mind here, with billions and billions of separate minds. I think it can very easily overwhelm them, and it it can cause them to struggle emotionally, and they I think they've done a bit of that, and it caused them to try to to assert themselves and create a sort of power over situation because they feel vulnerable, and that's when you get these people coming along and saying, "Oh, they predicted such and such is going to happen on such and such a day, and then the day comes and goes, and such and such doesn't happen. So, because they just trying to be, trying to seem powerful.
Jannecke Øinæs 41:21
Wow, that's such an interesting perspective.
Whitley Strieber 41:25
This well, this is different from what anyone, most people, because not many people have a relationship like this. I'm not alone. There are people who do, but you you won't meet anyone in the public space who has this type of relationship with them, except me right now.
Jannecke Øinæs 41:44
And why did you choose to come forward, and how did you find the bravery to do so, knowing what you might meet?
Whitley Strieber 41:54
Well, it was simple. I didn't know what I might meet. My wife was very encouraging. She wanted the book written, and I trusted her. She was very brilliant, and and wanted the book written. She named the book Communion, and she helped with the book. And she believed that it needed to be published. What I did not know was that the book was the beginning of contact. The face on the cover would awaken many people to their own experiences, and I did not know that. But she did apparently she did, and or she intuited it anyway. But she didn't say anything about that to me. The result was I thought it was an interesting story, and people would be fascinated by it, I did not know that behind the scenes the United States government would go crazy when they saw the book come out. The publisher knew because the publisher, instead of selling the book into stores, they just sent the books out in cartons without any warning at all, because if they knew that if they told the bookstores when the book was coming, the government would step in and try to suppress it. How they knew that, I don't know. But they they must have known that. I didn't know any of this, and so when I walked out into the public to talk about the book, the whole thing blew up in my face when I was the only one who didn't expect it. So I ended up going for years and years with this stupid nonsense of the rectal probe man. Har har har! And how about Uranus? Did they go the Uranus? You know, this stupid oh god. I I learned one thing: the human being has an almost endless capacity for moronicism and being an idiot. And and I I lived that for many years with that, and it was not a it was not pleasant. And but I did it anyway because I became, you know, when I'm someone pushes against me, I'm get I get really stubborn, especially when I know I'm right. And in this case, I am right. They are here. They are trying to make contact with us. They are having trouble, and we can help solve That problem, so I'm not going to stop. I decided not to stop the first night after Larry King laughed in my face, and you're so close in television that I could his breath watched over me as he laughed in my face, and I thought to myself, "I'm damn well never stopping now, and I haven't.
Jannecke Øinæs 44:51
When you have experienced these extraordinary things that you have, I think you also see reality in a different. Way that we normal people do, who are much in our fear and fight and flight and freeze and all these mechanisms, and I think it's a natural human thing to start to ridicule because either you might be afraid of your audience, like I don't want people out there to to see that I believe are open to this because what will they say about me? And also, this is a shock to my system. So let me just laugh about it because we get so unsure how to react because people have ridiculed so much throughout history. And I remember when I started to speak about that I believed in aliens and UFOs. There was a girlfriend who said, "I can't take you serious anymore, and that actually hurt me just because I believed in that. You can't take me serious. So I know you've been speaking about the ontological shock that this is actually a shock to our system. Could you speak a little bit about how you think real disclosure will look like for the public?
Whitley Strieber 46:11
Well, if it's going to happen, that that that'll be an interesting thing. What real disclosure should look like, and I've said this to everybody involved that I can manage to be in contact with. You need to do two things. You need to disclose the biological reports on the bodies that we have, and provide complete imagery of those bodies that are at Fort Detrick, apparently in Merrill, and you need to take one of the semi-intact discs that we have and put it in a Smithsonian institution in Washington for everybody to go see. And preferably, if we have more than one, they should be put in institutional settings around the world for people to see. This is disclosure. Until that happens, it's not disclosure. Putting out fuzzy videos and making cryptic comments is not disclosure.
Jannecke Øinæs 47:21
But still, do you feel like something is moving? That something is opening? That you feel like it's easier to speak about this now than five years ago?
Whitley Strieber 47:32
Oh yes, it is moving steadily. There's no question of that. But I'm not sure that governments even have the really important information. I think the really important information is in the hands of people who are having relationship with the visitors, and there's many, many people. It's a large community of experiencers out there, and a lot of them are highly articulate, capable people with degrees and all kinds of intellectual capabilities, you know. Doctor Phil and Bill Maher denigrated us, as they call us. I think trailer trashes. If people who live in mobile homes are somehow less than the rest of us, but anyway, they're very arrogant men. And you talk about ontological shock. That is going to be the problem. The people who are at the top of the intellectual food chain are the ones that are going to have the most trouble. The professors, the scientists, who believe that they understand the world and that their understanding of the of our lives and our world and our reality and our past is all true, and they're going to find all of that is just part of the truth, and not even the most important part. And that's going to be very hard for them. They're going to suffer that. They will fight it and fight it and fight.
Jannecke Øinæs 49:07
Why do you think you were chosen or taken?
Whitley Strieber 49:12
I don't care. It happened. That's not.
Jannecke Øinæs 49:19
So you don't think it's a sole contract, perhaps an agreement.
Whitley Strieber 49:23
I don't even think about that kind of thing. I'm I'm I'm here to talk about what's happening, not about my vague speculations. I couldn't care less. I'm I'm here now for this now, and things like where are they from? Why were you chosen? All that stuff doesn't matter to me at all. What matters to me is the relationship right now, and how to further that relationship in such a way that it eventually, if it blossoms out into a relationship with more people, that that works well. So that we get value from it, and so do they. That's my whole life. That's what my life is about.
Jannecke Øinæs 50:10
And if there are people out there who also want to foster such a relationship, how can they do so?
Whitley Strieber 50:20
That is a good question. I've never, you know, there are people who can call in orbs, and I know a lot of people can. In fact, anyone actually can. If you go out and you you you try hard enough and send out mental signals and so forth, you will eventually, almost certainly, you will get objects coming, especially depending on where you are, because in certain places they're more common than in others for reasons that are unclear. But to transform that into a relationship is another story entirely, and the reason is that the mind will take over and build an imaginary relationship if it doesn't have anything else to hang on, and you'll end up in a relationship with part of yourself that you think is an alien. It may indeed be, but that's another story. The only thing I can think of that that might work is to be humble and wait well, and give them a reason to contact you. There's no point in trying to be an alien contact tourist. They will not care. But if you can find something in yourself that you have to offer, and that you need from them, maybe over years of trying that will get response. But frankly, they are much more likely to simply come to who they want to come to. That's what it's always been like. They show up unbidden in people's lives. All of a sudden, they're there.
Jannecke Øinæs 52:16
And what can they contribute to us? Why would we want contact with them?
Whitley Strieber 52:24
That's a really good question. I think that the lives of the close encounter witnesses, the experiencers, offer directionally an answer to that question. But I'm not going to answer it by saying, "Oh, they can give us that, and then they can give us that. We don't actually know what they have to give, or what we will get from the relationship. My life, I can show you, is a living example of one thing that you can get from this relationship, which is an enormous increase in your sense of the expanse of reality and the validity and care of your soul. You become very aware of these things, and I'm not the only experiencer who's like this. We all we all go down this same road in one way or another, and that is worth having. It's very worth having, and in response, in return for that, I think they may want something from us that's more physical, because I think that you know they they seem pretty schlocky to me. I mean, I they don't seem to be in very good shape. I wouldn't like to be in one of those bodies, personally. You know, these are better for sure. So to me, I mean, I'm maybe they like theirs better. I don't know, but I don't think they would be experimenting with hybridization if they were entirely satisfied with the way they are.
Jannecke Øinæs 54:02
What do you feel is your life mission?
Whitley Strieber 54:07
I'm trying to tell the truth about everything that is happening in my life because I think it's a life that might be lived by a lot of people in the future, and I want to leave behind the series of books which, taken together, will resolve the issues that lead to ontological shock and Affirm to the reader that you have great value and you can do this. I did it, and it enriched me.
Jannecke Øinæs 54:54
I have a few questions that I ask all my guests on the show, and the first one is. What is self-love to you?
Whitley Strieber 55:10
I try to be myself and live from my own truth.
Jannecke Øinæs 55:20
What is the deepest spiritual insight you've ever received?
Whitley Strieber 55:27
I think I've gained great spiritual insight. I don't think I've ever been given a thing. What I've got, I put for myself from my relationship with the world around me, and my long journey through the exploration of the true nature of consciousness-what comes very close eventually to God doing this-and to me, God is a very real presence. It's not something distant. God is something that comes to rest in us if we let it, and you have to let it. And when that happens, you understand that every single religion has a path to it, and you just can dance in a new way. That would be, I think, the final. That would be the most succinct thing I can say. It's a dance, and we are dancers. And once you understand the steps of the dance, then you can get on the floor and come into contact with all sorts of extraordinary things about yourself and others, and also the unseen world.
Jannecke Øinæs 56:53
And what is the deeper meaning of life from your perspective?
Whitley Strieber 57:05
Who are we, and why are we here? It's not a. I can't answer it directly. I can only ask a question.
Jannecke Øinæs 57:16
Thank you so much. This has been highly, highly interesting. Thank you for your bravery and for sharing. And for those who would like to learn more, they can obviously come to the San Diego Transcendence Retreat in September, and I'll drop a link below. Could you guide them? I think you have a YouTube channel. If people want to learn more, where can they go?
Whitley Strieber 57:37
Yeah, I have a lot of things. I have a website called UnknownCountry.com that they can visit. It's richly. It has daily news. It's a very rich, very active website. I have a weekly show called Dreamland. It's on hiatus right now. We'll start up again in September, and it has been going since 1998 every week, and it is an interview programme. It's shadow-banned by Google, so it's hard to find unless you go on YouTube and put in Putty Streeper's Dreamland. You won't find it, and when you do find it, you'll only find old shows usually not the actual current show because they want to suppress this because it's about alien abduction and they're they're in all logical shock they just don't know it. I'm available on all of the audio podcasts, Spotify and iHeartRadio and all of those. I also have a new book out called Transformation 2026, which you can get from Amazon or the audio book read by me from Audible. And I got a lot going on, very active.
Jannecke Øinæs 58:55
Thank you so much for coming to the show today, and I'm really looking forward to see you soon.
Whitley Strieber 59:01
Thank you.
