Many have heard of near-death experiences. Far fewer have heard of shared death experiences, where someone at the bedside of a dying person is pulled across the veil along with them, experiences the light, and returns to their physical body. Dr. Scott Taylor is one of them.
The Night That Changed Everything
In the early hours of the sixth day after a horrific car accident that killed his partner Mary Fran and left her seven-year-old son Nolan in a coma, Scott drew the 3am to 5am shift at Nolan’s bedside. He and Mary Fran’s oldest sister Janie read Nolan his favorite storybook and told him that if his mother came to take him, that would be the right thing to do.
At 5am they left. Forty-five minutes later, the nurse called everyone back. Scott found himself at the back of the crowd and sat on the windowsill next to Mary Fran’s youngest brother Willie as the heart monitor flatlined.
What happened next he was not prepared for. Mary Fran crossed the veil and scooped Nolan up out of his physical body. Scott witnessed their reunion. Then both of them turned, came to him, embraced him, and the three of them left together into the light.
Once there, Scott was simultaneously 100 percent present with Mary Fran and Nolan and 100 percent present in the hospital room with the grieving family. Not split between the two. Fully in both. His face was radiant with joy in a room full of people weeping. He covered his face with his hands until he returned fully to his body.
The Shared Shared Death Experience
Fifteen years later, completing his doctoral research at the University of Saint Thomas, Scott contacted Mary Fran’s sisters and discovered that her sister Lolly had also had a shared death experience during those same moments in that same hospital room. The two of them compared notes. Their accounts were virtually identical, differing by only two words.
Every doubt Scott had carried dissolved in that moment. And so did Lolly’s.
Scott now knows that three conditions are required for a shared death experience: a heart connection between the observer and the dying person, openness and availability in the observer, and an invitation from the departing soul. The soul on the other side matches vibration with the observer and pulls them upward. It is easy from the non-physical side. It is far harder to initiate from the physical.
The Three Kinds of Light
One of the most distinctive contributions Scott brings from three decades of NDE research is a precise taxonomy of the light people encounter in these experiences.
The white light is the most widely known: brilliant, intense, and when you step into it you merge with it entirely. There is no shadow. You are made of the same light.
The black light is where all things exist before form. Not a void, not emptiness, but fullness before manifestation. People describe it as the womb of God, the place from which everything is created, nurtured and brought forth. The second sentence of the Hebrew Bible, he notes, describes it perfectly: the earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep.
The clear light, which Scott himself experienced, is different again. Rather than moving somewhere else, everything in the physical room begins to emanate its own light. The table, the microphone, the people present, all radiate the same light, revealing that physical matter and luminous consciousness exist in the same place simultaneously. Only about 20 percent of NDE and shared death experiencers encounter this form.
The Deepest Insight From 30 Years of Research
When Jannecke asks Scott for the single deepest insight from three decades of exploring near-death and shared death experiences, his answer is immediate: our universe is made of loving consciousness. You cannot get behind consciousness. Everything, every atom, every photon of light, every living being, is birthed from and remains connected through that loving consciousness. To touch it, even briefly, is to understand how to live.

I was in love with a woman. Her name was Mary Fran. Mary Fran and her son Nolan, who had just turned seven, had been out sailing. On the way home from that day, they were involved in a horrific car accident. Mary Fran was killed outright, and Nolan sustained a head wound that would require him six days before he made his transition, watching you know the heart monitor, and eventually it flatlines. When that happens, I experienced was Mary Fran coming across the veil and scooping Nolan up out of his physical body, they had this exquisite reunion that you could only imagine between a mother and son. It surprised me because I was able to feel what they were feeling. But what surprised me even more was that the two of them then turned to me, came over, they embraced me, and then the three of us left and went into the light. Once in the light, it is as if you are one with the divine when you're in your life review. And if there's a scene that you think to yourself, "Oh man, I wish I'd done that differently, you can turn to your guide and say, "Can I redo that? And they'll rewind the scene, and you get to play it over again. And this time, pick a different role. That also becomes part of the human record. You don't have to wait for another life. You don't have to wait for karma. You can change it right there in the life review.

Dr. Scott Taylor 2:08
Oh, I have been just waiting to be part of this conversation, so thank you for inviting me.
Jannecke Øinæs 2:17
Oh, that's wonderful to hear. Well, I've been excited too because you have an interesting field of work and background. You are today a spiritual teacher, a speaker, a podcaster. You have your own YouTube show, and you are a researcher within near death experiences and shared death experiences. And you've dedicated more than 30 years to explore this phenomenon. And what I'm really excited about, Scott, is that we're going to meet at the San Diego Ascension Retreat this September, and I believe it's going to be an amazing event. Darryl Anka is going to be there, Dr. Eben Alexander, Barbara Lamb, and you're going to be part of a panel where I'm going to interview different teachers, and I think it's going to be amazing. And of course, everyone who is curious to join, I'll drop a link below.
Dr. Scott Taylor 3:09
We are going to have fun at that retreat. Everybody, just saying.
Jannecke Øinæs 3:14
Yes, definitely. And Scott, you have a lot of wisdom and knowledge about the afterlife, I got to say, and you have knowledge that I haven't heard before. That I'm really curious to dive into today. How do you feel knowing everything you know? How do you feel a conversation today might really expand people's consciousness and minds?
Dr. Scott Taylor 3:39
Well, one of the things that I love to talk about is shared death experience, and that's a relatively newly documented form of expanded consciousness. What I believe is that consciousness and our spirituality is evolving, and that it is expressing itself in more and more ways, and that's really helpful for people who are listening to this, and they're going, "That sounds like me. You mean I'm growing too, or I have this connection, or I really want to explore that? It's a wonderful thing to be able to say yes, yes, and yes. That there's so many ways that we can connect with the divine, with the non-physical world, with just spirituality and consciousness in general.
Jannecke Øinæs 4:35
Ah, beautiful! I know you also have delved into binaural beats and meditations, and we might talk about that later on. However, I would love for you to share your profound and deep story that really, really touched me when I heard it. And I'm not sure, but maybe that was what sparked this interest in near-death experiences, and it happened in 19.
Dr. Scott Taylor 5:01
It did. I was in love with a woman. Her name was Mary Fran. Mary Fran and her son Nolan, who had just turned seven, had been out sailing on beautiful Lake Washington in southern Minnesota. On the way home from that day, they were involved in a horrific car accident. Mary Fran was killed outright, and Nolan sustained a head wound that would require him six days before he made his transition. We were very lucky in southern Minnesota to be in southern Minnesota because the Mayo Health System, which is one of the best in the world, is just not very far from us. And the two of them were transported to Rochester, and there received wonderful care, but it wasn't enough. Mary Fran was one of nine kids, and that's important because in the six days between the accident and when Nolan made his transition, it meant that her brothers and sisters and boyfriends and girlfriends and spouses, uncles and aunts and grandparents and all of these friends and relatives would come to hold vigil for Nolan, and that's just her side of the family. And then my family was there too, and I think there was probably 50 of us easily there to try to be with Nolan as he fought for his life. Well, there were so many of us in the hospital. Nolan's hospital room was so small that we wound up drawing straws for who would come and be with him. As it turns out, my straw was from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. on the morning of the sixth day. the The nurse on the floor had gathered us all and said that when we went to visit Nolan, it was really important that we talked to him because he was in a coma and he would never come out of the coma. But hearing is the last sense to go, and so it was very likely that he could hear everything that was going on in the room, and we should treat him like he was present and available to us. So that's what we did. It's our shift. It's three a.m. in the morning, and Mary Fran's oldest sister Janie and I go in, and we bring along his favorite storybook. We read him the story. Oh dear, we tell him about the antics of his uncles, who had at midnight had gone throughout the Mayo Hospital and stolen all of the cushions off of the couches and put them on the floor of the waiting room, so that people who were tired could lie down and have just a place to rest. Well, we we tell him stories. We tell him about what's happening in the hospital, and it gets to be about quarter to five in the morning. And Janie, who's a trained emergency room nurse, goes to the end of his bed and picks up the clipboard, looks at his his signs, and then looks at the myriad of monitors that are around his bed, and she just holds out her hand to me and says, "Scott, it's it's time for you and I to say goodbye. We pull up chairs next to his head, and we tell Nolan that we are so proud of him that he is fighting so hard to stay with us in the physical world. But if his mother should come and visit, remind her that Mary Fran died six days before. That if his mother should come and ask him to go with her. That that would be the right thing to do, and that we would always love him. He would always be a part of our heart and a part of our family, and we would forever have him in our consciousness and and give him hugs all the time. So it's now 5o'clock and we leave, and the next shift comes in. Well, it's not 45 minutes later when the nurse comes into the waiting room, flips on the light. And says that his vital signs are decreasing rapidly, and so we all file into this little hospital room. And as luck would have it, I'm way at the end of the group, and when I get into the room, it's already four deep around Nolan's bed. Well, that's silly. So I went over and I sat on the windowsill next to Mary Fran's youngest brother Willie, and there we waited.
Dr. Scott Taylor 10:31
And there's not much to do when you hold vigil. It's just watching, you know, the heart monitor, and eventually it flatlines. When that happens, when that happened to me, what I experienced was Mary Fran coming across the veil and scooping Nolan up out of his physical body. They had this exquisite reunion that you could only imagine between a mother and son, and it surprised me because I was able to feel what they were feeling. But what surprised me even more was that the two of them then turned to me, came over, they embraced me, and then the three of us left and went into the light. And once in the light, it is everything you've heard about, everything you've read about. It is joy, it's ecstasy, it's it's love, it's unconditional acceptance. It's it's being bonded with everything in the universe. It is as if you are one with the divine, and none of that mattered because I was there in the light with Mary Fran and Nolan, and the three of us had an opportunity to affirm our love and affection for each other. We had a chance to say a proper goodbye because I wasn't anywhere near the scene of the accident. I was at work, and then we had a chance just to be together, and we were in that space for a while, and then it just felt complete. So Mary Fran and Nolan turned and went further into the light, and I came back to my physical body sitting there on the windowsill next to Willie. So that's part A of my three-part story. Maybe I should pause and see if you get any questions.
Jannecke Øinæs 12:56
Wow! Wow! I get so many questions, and we might get back to them also. However, could you share a little bit about how physical it felt when you were saying goodbye and you were meeting? I can't imagine how a meeting would be or a connection on the other side. Did you see yourself as Scott? Did you have a body? Did they have a body? Is it more euphoric and dream-like, or is it like really concrete? Like I'm seeing you here and now.
Dr. Scott Taylor 13:36
Those are really good questions because I speak in visual language, but it wasn't quite. It wasn't like that. It was like Mary Fran and Nolan were these balls of energy, and they had very clear energetic signatures. I knew that was Mary Fran, and I knew that that was Nolan, and and frankly, what people don't ask me about very often, thank you, is that let's put it this way: I was extremely glad that it didn't happen in English. It was a it was telepathy. It was mind to mind, and when things are expressed nonverbally, they contain so much more information. You know, when language takes and puts boundaries on concepts, and you know when Mary Fran said, "I love you. It's so much more than the emotion. It's it's a recognition of all of the time that we had spent together. It's a recognition of what we meant to each other. It was also a recognition of the future that we would not share because she was no longer in the physical. It it encompassed so much more information than if you were just speaking, it would have taken a year, I think, to express all that we had to express to each other. But in an instant, all of that is is transmitted in that space, and it was the same with Nolan. And with Nolan, it was even more layered because he never knew his biological father, and I had started to take on that role, and so there was that that recognition as well as the what we felt for each other. So yeah, it's it's really there's a lot of layers to it, and it was it was profoundly moving to be in that in that space with them.
Jannecke Øinæs 16:20
Thank you for trying to explain something that is not, you know, unexplainable. Please continue the story because your physical body was still in that room, sitting there. So how is that possible? I mean, did anybody notice?
Dr. Scott Taylor 16:38
Okay, so that so that's part C of this story. He said, "Don't get ahead of me. So, part B is I'm in the light with Mary Fran and Nolan, and 100% of my consciousness is there with the two of them, and 100% of my consciousness was there in the hospital room with all the other friends and relatives, and I say it like that because it was not like my consciousness was split 50-50, and a little bit here and a little bit there. I was all with them, and I was all with family, and I know this because as I'm sitting there on the windowsill, the it's like the light and love of the universe is inside me, and it's bursting out. And my face was just radiant, filled with joy and ecstasy, and I had this big, huge grin on my face, and if anybody in that room had looked at that moment, they would not have understood. I mean, Nolan had just made his transition in Mary Fran six days before, and I'm sitting there grinning. So I did the only thing I could think of, which was to cover my face with my hands, and I remained in that posture until all of me came back to my physical body, which was sitting there on the windowsill. And when I regained my sense of place, I could then lower my hands and do what grieving people do. You know, you hug and you cry on each other's shoulders, and and you're just with people who are in this deep state of grief. So that's part B. Part C goes like this. After Mary Fran and Nolan's transition, I knew that I wanted to see them again. I knew I wanted to be with them again, and because I had done it once, I knew, I knew, I knew that I could do it again if I could just figure out how. So, my my first instinct was to visit the ancient sacred sites around the world, figuring that they had some special magic juju that would propel me back into that space again, so I went to Machu Picchu and the Sphinx and the pyramids and the Oracle of Delphi and and Stonehenge, and I went to more cathedrals that you could shake a stick at, and essentially what happened out of that trying, that exploration was, eh, maybe I got a little a little bump, but mostly I had great vacations. It's just they were just wonderful. And then I said, well, okay, maybe I need to. Intellectually understand this a little more, so I studied with the Amoto religion in Japan. I went to seminary. I entered into a doctoral program at the University of Saint Thomas in Minnesota. I'll get back to that in a second, and that was really helpful because it gave me concepts and words to describe what happened to me. Because I grew up Presbyterian in a small town in southern Minnesota, and none of this was in the lexicon of the Presbyterian Church, or in my even concept of what was possible. So then I said, "All right, I have got to figure out something else, and I decided to try some things that were more experiential. I tried TM meditation. Yeah, that was fun. I studied with shamans in both North and South America. That was fun, but what really allowed me to connect with Mary Fran and Nolan was the meditation techniques that I learned at the Monroe Institute, where they use a special form of meditation that's augmented by binaural beads. So, part C. I'm not all the background set now. I'm at St. Thomas, which is Minnesota's largest private university, and I am studying leadership. And as my dissertation topic, I chose people who'd had near-death experiences because they come back so profoundly changed. Why was that? I wanted to know. And I'm having a real trouble finding people to interview. I kept running into HIPAA laws, and in the states, what that means is that you can't divulge somebody's medical situation because of privacy. And so, if I went to a hospital and said I'd like to talk to somebody who had a near-death experience, they just go, "Nah, not happening. We can't tell you that. So, out of desperation, I wrote to Mary Fran's sisters. They were all involved in healthcare of some flavor or another.
Dr. Scott Taylor 22:27
One of them wrote me back, Lolly, and she said, "Scott, about five years ago, I had a near-death experience, and I'd love to tell you about it. So, I did. We had an interview. I tape recorded it. You know, I took my notes, and as I was putting away that tape recording, and this thing, this thought occurred to me, and the thought was, what did something? So anyway, I asked Lolly. Says, you know, something unusual happened to me in the hospital room when Nolan made his transition. I'm just wondering if something unusual happened to you too. And her eyes just got big as saucers. Taking that as a yes, I said, all right. Tell you what, turn the tape recorder back on. You tell me your story first. I'll tell you my story, and then we'll compare notes. All right. This is what Lolly told me. She said, "Scott, I remember this vividly. I was standing bedside on the opposite side of the room where you were sitting next to Willie on the windowsill. Correct. That's right. He said, "What I experienced when Nolan flatlined was Mary Fran coming across the veil, scooping Nolan up out of his physical body. They had this exquisite reunion, in which I was able to participate. I meaning Lolly, and then the two of them turned to me, embraced me, and we went to the light where we had a chance to affirm our love and affection for each other. We had a chance to say a proper goodbye, and we had a chance just to be together for a while. And then it felt complete, and they went into the light, and I came back to my physical body, Yannika. I think there was like two words that were different than how I explained my experience, and in an instant, any doubts that I had in my mind that this was real, that this really happened, just evaporated, and the same was true for Lolly. She had been wondering for 15 years whether what had happened to her was was real and what what it meant, and how did that mix with her view on life? All of. That just evaporated in an instant because the two of us had virtually identical experiences. So in the literature, this is known as a shared death experience. What happened to us? So technically, I guess this is a shared, shared death experience.
Jannecke Øinæs 25:22
Wow. Well, thank you so much for sharing that. That is a profound story, and I just feel like it wasn't a coincidence this happening because otherwise you would probably not be working with what you're working with today. And yeah, and it seems like also that perhaps you had a special bond to these souls; otherwise, this wouldn't have happened, and she as well.
Dr. Scott Taylor 25:47
Yes. Yeah.
Jannecke Øinæs 25:48
Yeah. We
Dr. Scott Taylor 25:48
We now know, after much research, that there are three conditions that are necessary for a shared death experience. One is that there's a heart connection. You nailed it. There needs to be a hard connection between the person making their transition. So in my case, that'd be Mary Fran and Nolan, and me, the observer. The second is that you need to be open to the experience, not only open from a mindset perspective, but you really can't be driving a car or actively grieving or you know anything else that would take your attention. You need to be open and available for
Jannecke Øinæs 25:48
like in a certain a certain state.
Dr. Scott Taylor 25:48
Yeah, in a way.
Jannecke Øinæs 25:48
Yeah. Okay.
Dr. Scott Taylor 25:48
And the last thing is, and this is important, is that the two of them, Mary Fran and Newland, needed to reach back and invite me to go with them, because this is an energetic. It's a. It's a. It. What happens is that you match their vibration, and it's really easy for them to be in that heightened state, reach down and pull you up, and have you match their vibration, so the communication can happen, and you can be in the light with them. It is really difficult on the reverse side. You know, here I am at at bedside. Okay, I want to be with. Well, what vibration do I pick? How do I do that? Especially if I've never heard about it before. It's so it's it's tougher from the physical side. It's easy from the non physical side, and so that invitation needs to come from Nolan to me, and Poofa, off we go.
Jannecke Øinæs 25:48
And it's really fascinating the part where you talked about that you were both in the room in the hospital and also on the other side. And I've heard stories like that before that people who've had near-death experiences. It was especially a Norwegian comedian who told that his brother was alive. He was in a coma and he had a near-death experience, and his brother was alive and by his bed fiscally. And then he also met him on the other side. So he was curious, like he's there and he's there. So I guess I mean I'm just thinking that the real us is on the other side, and here this is sort of a part of me, a projection, a smaller part of the bigger I and you.
Dr. Scott Taylor 26:32
So I like to think of it as we are multidimensional creatures that have consciousness that exists on all levels at the same time, and what we're doing is that we're focusing our attention right now. You and I are focusing our attention on the physical world and the and the physical vibrations. But with a little shift, you can go and you know talk with great aunt Gertie, and and she passed away years ago. But you can have that conversation with those who have have made their transitions already, or maybe you want to visit the divine, or maybe you want to go to that area of life between lives, and all of that is available. It's just where do you put your attention and learning to shift our vibratory level with that attention and and it's all available? Yes, so all of it for me, all of us is is real. All of it makes sense. I got to fix my English there.
Jannecke Øinæs 29:38
Well, I think this is so good news, and many questions in my mind. I want to address what I've heard you talk about-that there are three kinds of light.
Dr. Scott Taylor 29:49
Oh yeah,
Jannecke Øinæs 29:50
we hear the talk about the the light all the time, and then you-I heard you say there are three kinds of light, and I was like, oh, really three?
Dr. Scott Taylor 29:58
Yeah. So when you listen to people talk about near-death experiences or shared death experiences, or you read about them, it's like pay attention the light they go into because there is white light, there's black light, and there's clear light. So the white light, most everybody knows about that because that's the one they feature on television, and you know, even Harry Potter had an experience with the white light. So, the the white light is is brilliant. It's it's so intense. The cool thing about it is that when you step into the white light, you merge with the light, and I've had people describe that experience to me before. The really smart ones turn around and look to see if there's a shadow, and there isn't. So this light that's coming at you-it really means that you are a part of that light, and it is powerful, loving consciousness. That's white. Black light is that area of where all things exist before form. It's not nothing. It is everything existing before form. It is that people who go into the black light experience that sense of unity where everything is connected to everything else. It is a profound way. people talk about is that the loving consciousness that is the foundation of this universe is available there, and that you can touch that loving consciousness so easily, and people then begin to resonate with that, and that's the state from which manifestation comes. I've had several people describe the black light, and they they always do this gesture. They call it the womb of God. Isn't that lovely? They talk about it as this is the place where things are created, nurtured, and brought forth into the physical world.
Jannecke Øinæs 32:31
And just to jump in there, so it's not a feeling of a void that there's just total darkness, but they do feel it as darkness, but a place where everything exists.
Dr. Scott Taylor 32:45
Yes,
Jannecke Øinæs 32:46
but but is it dark? Like, do they see anything?
Dr. Scott Taylor 32:49
Nope, nope. It's just dark, and it because sometimes people will enter into that space, and they'll be thrown off guard, and they'll go, "Oh my gosh, I'm someplace where it's empty and void, and it takes them just a bit to begin to realize that this is everything. This is where everything exists before form. So that that child, that table, that way of being exists there, and then it's our consciousness that brings it into form, so that it could be brought into the physical universe. It is profoundly full, and it's black. Let's see if I can do this. Okay, here we go. If you folks are Genesis two fans, and the earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep, that's the second sentence in the Hebrew Bible, and I think it beautifully describes that that place.
Jannecke Øinæs 34:13
Interesting. All right, so then we have the last type of light, and this one. Well, we never know, right?
Dr. Scott Taylor 34:22
You never know, right? This one's clear light, and this is the kind that happened to me. And if you and I were to have that experience right now, what you would discover is that the table begins to emanate its own light. The microphone emanates light. The screen behind me, you begin to emanate light, and what you discover is that everything is made up of light, and it's all the same light. We are made up of the stuff that loving consciousness of. The universe, and that's why the unity experience is so prevalent when people enter into this space. Only about 20% of the the people who've had near death experiences or shared death experiences have this clear light experience. It is at once of the physical world and not of the physical world. You begin to realize that there is in the same place there are two dimensions. There's more, but you know that there are other dimensions in the same place where we reside. So not only can I be in my physical body, but I can also be in the non-physical world. And in this case, I was in the light with Mary Fran and Nolan. So I was I bilocated. I was in two places at the same time.
Jannecke Øinæs 35:57
Fascinating. Were you also part of their life review. I know a lot of NDE experiencers have a life review,
Dr. Scott Taylor 36:08
and shared death experiencers. So there's two ways that people experience a shared death experience. One is to be the observer, where you can go with them and just watch what's going on with them, and the second one is to be invited in, and you get to be and experience everything that they know and feel along the way, and that is a very special. place to be invited to be part of somebody's life review because I mean it-it's all there, and it's personal.
Dr. Scott Taylor 36:52
It's very private. Oh my God! Yes, very personal. That did not happen to me. We got a chance to merge with one another, but I, they went further and did their thing, and I came back to the physical world. I, I am of the belief that both near death and shared death experiences, you get to have enough of an experience, so that when you come back to the physical world, you are changed in a way that matches your mission in life, and that was like all I needed was to have that experience with Mary Fran and Nolan. I didn't need you know the full blown thing. Some people do, and they get to experience the whole thing. They go to the future. They get to you know talk to angels and you know and have a conversation with God. I I didn't do that.
Jannecke Øinæs 37:56
And still, I know that you know a lot about life reviews, and I find them or the concept just so intriguing. I mean, it says so much right there that in a life review you experience everything you've ever experienced in your life from all kinds of perspectives and from different angles. Like, how is it even possible? And it also shows how important this life is, and every moment.
Dr. Scott Taylor 38:25
Yep. So, just a little description in a life review. It's it's just like you read about. You get to experience your whole life, every emotion, every thought, every feeling, from beginning it to end, and you also get to view your life from the other person that's in the room. So I get to have this experience, but I'm also, you know, the woman at the checkout counter that I'm frustrated with. I'm also with family members, I I get to see me through their eyes, and I get to experience what they are experiencing when they are with me. So not only do I get to go through my own stuff, but I get to see what it is that I did that Sparked whatever happens, and so you become profoundly aware of how important every single moment is in every transaction. They're really, really important. And back to the unity thing, I've had people tell me that when they went through their life review, they realized that if they were to reach out and you know, if I was to reach out and strike you, I literally I'd be striking myself, and that makes no. Sense, you say. Why would you do that? Why would we organize a society where we where we do that? So that's really important. Okay, part three of life reviews is the omniscient point of view. So God's perspective, if you will. So not only do I get to see me, and you get to see me through the other person in the room, but I also get to see how that interaction made a difference in my life, made a difference in the other person's life, made a difference in our family, community, nation, world, and the human race as a whole, how did that transaction make a difference? Okay, so if those of you that are still with this interview, now is the time I'm going to give you this super secret piece of information that's going to make it all worth it, and it's this: when you're in your life review, you can-I'm sorry-pause. You are accompanied always by your guide when you're in your life review, and and if there's a scene that you think to yourself, "Oh man, I wish I'd done that differently. You can turn to your guide and say, "Can I redo that? And they'll rewind the scene, and you get to play it over again. And this time, take a different role. So, say the first time you were with a checkout person at the grocery store, and you were you were a jerk because you were in a hurry and you didn't have the right change and blah blah blah doesn't make any difference anyway. So, but the second time you go, well, what if I didn't do that? What if I was a nice guy, and and if that doesn't work, you didn't like how that turned out. Well, rewind it again and do it again in a way that helps you understand the nuances of your behavior. Here's the cool part: each one of those attempts where we change our behavior and we get to see how it plays out through our our lives, our family, our friends. That also becomes part of the human record. You don't have to wait for another life. You don't have to wait for karma. You can change it right there in the life review. So it's a it's a fabulous place to be one with all the possibilities that that can exist, and all of them then have become part of the human record, and we all learn based on what it is that you tried out and changed because you have a different perspective, knowing that we have guides that will help us and love us through that experience just makes everything wonderful. You just get a chance to like. What if? What if I did this? And what if I did that? And what if I turned left instead of right? All of these options are available to you. Use them, play them out, and you get a chance then to evolve as a soul, and go. Oh, I get it. Last bit on that is that when we come into this physical world, we come in with a mission.
Dr. Scott Taylor 43:52
We have arranged with our guides to say, okay, I'm picking my folks, I'm picking my siblings, I pick where I I learned, I pick my ancestors, and I'm going to pick my body, and I'm picking the kinds of incidents that are going to have real impact on my life. Well, that kind of picking means that we have a mission, we have something that we're supposed to accomplish that will help us grow in the way that we want to grow, and it also means that we sometimes have to play the jerk and play it magnificently so somebody else can grow the way they're supposed to, and in the life review, you go, "Oh my God, I was such a jerk! But then you get to see how it plays out and how it made them this shining, wonderful human being, and then you can sit back and go, "Oh." This wonderful capability as human beings, and we can have that future. On the other hand, we don't quite know how to get there yet. That's kind of my mission in life: is to is to help people to begin to understand that this new energy that's coming in. That this this new frequency that will cause us all to evolve. We can either resist it, or we can accept it and embrace it and be, you know, some of the first people to really get it. And not only can we mentor, we can we can model it, and we can mentor it for those who are resisting it with every fiber of their being, and that's fine. We all get to choose which role we're going to play, but we are going to change that. I have no doubt at all. I mean, and all of us can feel that there is something going on that is profoundly different than we've ever had in our human species, and it's time to accept a broader view of of the universe and of what we are capable of.
Jannecke Øinæs 51:30
Yeah, if you can share a little bit more about your perspective on the shift of consciousness and what you've heard from about the future from those who you might have interviewed who have been to the future.
Dr. Scott Taylor 51:44
So most of the folks talk about this ability for us to have consciousness on several dimensions at the same time. So here we are in the physical world, we're doing our thing. We we raise kids, feed ourselves, have jobs, but at the same time, we are guided by the our our guides, who you know we have a cloud of them that help us out. So all of that information is available to us, and it's like, okay, what is best for me now, and how can I grow based on what I'm doing in the physical world and what it is I need to grow spiritually? So, not only are we growing as human beings here in the physical, but we are also growing in in another dimension. So there is this broadening of the concept of who we are. We're here and we're there in all of its dimensions. So I'm very pleased. Our our human future has wonderful capabilities, and so some of our human struggles are going to decrease at the same time as we begin to broaden our ability to grow on many dimensions. So it's it's not like we're just here and everybody gets to hang out in a hammock with free food. It's it's not like that. It's more about how do we get to have a life that expresses what is truly our our mission, but our character and just what are we as human beings? I think that definition is getting bigger and bigger and bigger, and that's that's what'll happen. And I think it's going to be relatively quickly the beginning vibration.
Jannecke Øinæs 54:01
So our lifetime, our lifetime. It's starting now.
Dr. Scott Taylor 54:05
We are. It's it's kind of faint at the moment, but you can see the repercussions everywhere because the the in order for us to do this, have this capability, the old structures need to go away, and and because we will be connected to universal knowledge, all of the the hidden things that are here on this world, the secrets and how how things are manipulated, yada. All of that's going to come out And be exposed, and we as a human species now have the chance. And all right, how do we organize ourselves in a way that embraces the new human, and that will be the fun work, and. Will it? It's starting in our lives right now. I don't know. I from their descriptions, three, four generations by the time we really get it figured out, because we we got lots of starts and stops and reconfigures, and it's going to be a really interesting time in in the human experience. And aren't we lucky that we get to be here right now and watch all this and go, man, this is tough, and wow, what a ride! Just
Jannecke Øinæs 55:41
Definitely, and I'm thinking right now I might want to come back for that also. If you're speaking about three, four generations, I would like to be back. You got plenty of time. So, oh gosh, I always feel like time is an issue on my show that I could sit with my guests for hours, but everything happens now, right? Time is an interesting thing. Anywho, what is to dive straight to it? What is the deepest spiritual insight you received throughout your years of researching NDEs?
Dr. Scott Taylor 56:19
Wow. That our universe is made up of loving consciousness. You can't get behind consciousness. Everything evolves out of that. All the atoms, all of the light, everything comes and is birthed from the loving consciousness that is this universe, which means that we are all connected through that loving consciousness, and to be able to touch that space is a profound joy, and it provides profound wisdom for how we can live our lives here in the in the physical world. There is so much wisdom that we can gain by being in communion with the loving consciousness that is creation. So, if you want the big one, that's my that's my biggie. That's beautiful. Live your authentic life. You just
Jannecke Øinæs 57:28
and what is self love to you?
Dr. Scott Taylor 57:39
I think it's a deep gratitude for this this life that we have, that we have created, that we have asked for, that we have the same thing. No judgment on ourselves, just like we don't have judgment from the divine. All of what we do here in the physical world is as an expression of growth. We are growing as human beings. We are continually learning, and isn't that wonderful? And we're going to have starts and stops, and we're going to do things right, and we're going to do things wrong. Wrong. I'm not sure about that word, but all of it is this wonderful adventure. And what do you do? You just love yourself for being willing to do that, to willing to take that on, to be able to say, I am an expression of the loving consciousness of the universe, and therefore, I am that love. And let's just spread some more of it around. I think it's a good thing.
Jannecke Øinæs 58:55
I love that. And my last question: What is the deeper meaning of life from your perspective,
Dr. Scott Taylor 59:05
the short answer is to love, just to be an expression of love, and to be expression of that loving consciousness of the universe, and I really wasn't kidding about that. Living your authentic life becomes because we come here with this goal of learning these very specific things that we want to have happen in our lives, and that's wonderful. And sometimes that involves incredible pain, like losing Mary Fran and Nolan. Incredible pain, and as time goes on, you realize that their sacrifice was an incredible gift. I have. I have a wonderful family, a wonderful wife. I have just so many things in my life are truly extraordinary because of the gift that Mary Fran and Nolan gave to me to be and explore this consciousness through near death and shared death experiences that has been an extraordinary adventure.
Jannecke Øinæs 1:00:27
Thank you so much for coming to the show and sharing your story. And I can't wait to meet you and your wife. Just met your beautiful wife before we started recording. And of course, for everyone watching, you're so welcome to join us. How can people connect with you, Scott, if they want to dive deeper and learn more?
Dr. Scott Taylor 1:00:47
It's really easy. There are two ways. One is that you can go to my website, neardeathmeditations.com. NeardeathMeditations.com, and you know all my stuff is there. My classes and the albums, and you get there's my story is there. There's ability to contact me. That wiggling of the fingers means that you can send me an email and I'll actually respond. But the second thing, you and I are going to be at the Transcendence Retreat in San Diego, September 19 and 20, and that will be a wonderful way to connect with us and hear what we have to say and hear more about our stories and, in particular, the wisdom that is underneath near death and shared death experience. We're going to explore that at some depth, and I think that's just going to be way fun. That, and I'm going to teach you. I'm going to do a workshop where I do a do a meditation in this style, where we go to those places that near death experiencers go to, so you can you know feed your head, and you can feed your experience by coming to that retreat. How about that? We're going to have fun there.
Jannecke Øinæs 1:02:07
I can't wait. Yes, it's going to be amazing. And San Diego is so exotic for me. I mean, it's so far away from Norway. It's going to be so warm and pleasant with palm trees. I feel so lucky and meeting incredible teachers like yourself, and can't wait for your workshop. Can't wait to interview on stage, and it's going to be amazing. Thank you so so much for coming to the show. I loved having you here. Thank you for all your profound work.
Dr. Scott Taylor 1:02:35
And thank you, Jannecke. Jannecke, I this has just been a hoot. I really appreciate the time with you.
